The studies that have tried to link nutrition therapy to management of arthritic symptoms have also turned out to be disappointing. In this light, it is better to take care of your health so that arthritis can be prevented.
How to prevent arthritis is a question that many have tried to answer. Today, apart from being one of the most studied and researched disease, arthritis is also one of the most feared one.
How to Prevent Arthritis?
Since treatment of arthritis is basically focused on the management of pain and alleviation of symptoms, the best way to deal with this disease is to prevent it altogether. Here are some things you can do if you are really wondering how to prevent arthritis.
- Prevent repetitive strain on your joints. If you experience sprains and trauma to your joints on a regular basis, adequate measures should be taken to cushion the shocks and reduce the trauma to the joints. This is especially true for those who have been involved in strenuous work or physical exercises. Osteoarthritis is usually caused by this repeated trauma.
- If you do heavy lifting and physically strenuous work, it is best to decrease your frequency of squatting, which can lead to further wear and tear of the joints.
- Exercise is excellent for maintaining body health. However, exercising in the wrong manner or taking too much physical strain can cause degeneration of the joints and the bones. If you practice alternative therapies like yoga, the poses should be practiced in the presence of a qualified instructor so that the joints are not further damaged.
- Obesity is one of the major health challenges that the world is struggling with. Obesity causes many lifestyle diseases including arthritis. The more weight you have to carry around on your joints, the more degenerated the joints will become.
- If you have any nutrition deficiencies, these will begin to manifest themselves as you grow older. Even if in your young age, nutrient deficiencies are not apparent, they will cause degeneration of the body at a later stage. Therefore, the diet should be seriously taken into account.
