Positive emotions keep us healthy. Negativity in our minds can cause depression, stress, diseases and many disorders. Keep the mind healthy and keep physically fit, one can perhaps say.

How does our emotions causes back pain?
Pain is processed by our brain, which happens to be generated in the back portion of our body. The process occurs in several areas of the brain such as the thalamus, cortex and amygdala. These areas are where the emotional physical activity in a person takes a place. Biologically, the area where these parts are located in the brain is known as “pain matrix”. This “pain matrix” is divided into two segments- medical pain system processes the emotions which are related to the brain. The lateral system processes the physical sensations.

When we experience, anger, depression, anxiety and other negative emotions reach this “pain matrix” and the emotions get processed. A message is sent to the brain that all is not well with the body, especially to the back in the form of pain. These negative emotions counter the existing pain in the body and also aggravate it.

How to deal back pain caused by our emotions?
We need to control our emotions, particularly negative ones. We must not allow our emotions to rule our lives. It is important to rationalize and thus reduce anxiety, fear and other negative emotions such as depression. These emotions must not in any way control our body.

Treatment procedure
One has to undergo physiological treatment such as controlling one’s emotions. There are conventional treatment procedures also. These are biofeedback, massage, meditation, yoga, as well as aromatherapy. One can undergo these forms of treatment individually or even mix them to get relief from back pain.

Back pain is not all that difficult to cure. One requires some self- control and change in life-style habits.
