Preventing Back Pain
Most people are affected by back pain. It can cause much discomfort and can interfere with your daily chores. It happens to be a common medical problem in the US. It affects men and women both. Nearly 60% to 90% US citizens have had to cope up with at least one injury to the back.
Pressure on the spine and the back muscles causes pain. Lifting heavy things, or carrying out strenuous work or sitting straight for long hours like in front of a computer can also cause back pain.
One would like relief from back pain. In fact, it is always advisable to seek immediate first aid in order to ensure that the problem does not get aggravated. Relief can be in the form of medication, massage, acupuncture, exercise etc.
Seeking relief form back pain is okay, but what is important is to prevent back pain. How does one do it?
Preventing back ache – How to prevent back pain?:
Below are some of the primary ways of preventing back pain:
- Avoid lifting heavy things.
- Do not position yourself awkwardly.
- Do not sit straight for hours.
- Do not over work.
- Avoid jerking the back.
- Sleep on comfortable mattress.
- A back support helps. Like placing a cushion behind your back while working on a computer or any other desk work that takes too much time.
- Exercise the back. This helps in strengthening the back muscles.
- Be careful while moving objects.
- Also make sure that your back is not strained while bending forward or backwards.
- Massage the back as it helps in relaxing the muscles.
- Maintain a healthy weight.
- Avoid stress as it causes much pressure on the back.
- Maintain the right posture while sleeping.
- Stretch the back before getting up from the bed.
Back pain can be a nagging problem. It is better to try to prevent it. Of course, sometimes injuries are unavoidable such as accidents. Since back pain causes much discomfort one must as far a possible take precautions to avoid it.
