Ear Cartilage Piercing Options
Ear cartilage piercing is the most common form of piercing. Many people are scared of getting their ear cartilage pierced, but they feel very pleasant to see themselves gorgeous. Sometimes, ear piercing may lead to a cavity of pus, called abscess. There are several options to get ear cartilage piercing based on the piercing area.
Options For Ear Cartilage Piercing:
Antitragus:
- In this type, the piercing will be done on the extrusive ridge of cartilage inferior and lateral to the ear canal, opposite the tragus
Conch (Shell Piercing):
- Piercing is performed on the part of the ear which forms a funnel leading into the ear
Daith:
- This piercing type is vertical, like the rook
Helix and Top Ear:
- This is one of the common forms of ear cartilage piercing
- There is no scientific evidence on the piercing gun’s effect on degree of infection caused by helix piercing
- It can be very annoying for the first few weeks while sleeping
Rook and Snug:
- This is a piercing is done through the anti-helix
- The rook is a vertical piercing
- The Snug is a horizontal piercing.
- This type of piercing is not possible for those who don’t have a defined anti-helix
- It is more prone to rejection and migration
Tragus:
- This type of piercing is done on the prominence of cartilage in front of the opening of the ear canal
Vertical Lobe:
- This is the most common form of ear cartilage piercing
- It is the only type of lobe piercing that moves through the cartilage
