Fake Eyelashes

False Eyelashes were invented during the 1916 by D.W. Griffith. He was an American Film Director who invented them for his epic, “Intolerance”. He wanted the actress Seena Owen’s lashes to look very long for a dramatic feel. They were so long that they almost brushed against her cheeks when she blinked her eyes.

Today, fake eyelashes are quite common. Just a few years back they were just used by the Hollywood stars and the models. Now they are available to common people in many different styles at affordable prices. You can find them at any beauty supply store, major department store or even your local drug store. You can even buy fake eyelashes online.

Following are some tips on how to put the fake eyelashes on.

  • First decide on the look you want. The fake eyelashes help in adding drama to your evening appearance or even return the eyelashes that you could have lost due to illness. The extra hairs on the fake lashes around the outside corners of your eyes make them look subtle and sophisticated.
  • The fake lashes are available in many colors. Choose the right color that complements the occasion. For example, in the evenings, use black or dark brown. This causes your eyes to look big without using mascara. During the daytime, use dark brown.
  • Keep in mind the actual color of your own lashes and use the same color to get a natural look.
  • Be careful with their length. Make sure they follow the natural line of your own lashes. Use sharp scissors to trim them according to your needs.
  • Before you begin working on your fake eyelashes, be sure to clean your eyes. Makeup should be applied after they are fixed.
  • Hold the lashes with the help of your hands or tweezers. Then apply a little glue or adhesive along the base of your lashes. Let the glue be there for a minute. Add more glue later if needed.
  • Then while looking into a mirror, put the fake lashes above your own eyelashes. Push them as close to your lash line as possible. This will make them look natural.
  • Adjust the place of the lashes with the help of tweezers or a toothpick.
  • If you’re using lash clumps in the place of glue, place them at the outer corners of the upper lashes. Just use one or two per eye. With the help of a toothpick or tweezers adjust their position.
  • Now your eyes are ready for makeup. You can now use both mascara and eyeliner to draw attention to your eyes.
  • You can also avoid the use of any eye makeup if you want a subtle look. You can decide that based on the look you want.
  • This can be done better with practice. The first time they may not look perfect so don’t loose heart. It is advisable to practice it once before the d day.
