There is always that feeling of shyness and awkwardness getting your nipple pierced by a stranger, but you should know this is perfectly normal. You should remember that your piercer is an experienced professional and that it is not an unpleasant situation. It is always advisable to wear a button up top to make it easier while doing nipple piercing. This way you do not have to expose your body so much.

It is normal to have fears and apprehension before nipple piercing. It is advisable to consult a physician on how to minimize the pain and give early healing process. One of which is Endorphin, it gives you the strength to withstand the pain and help you fight against any pain. That does not mean that you would not feel any pain but it will greatly minimize the discomfort.

There are some people with abnormally shaped nipples, such as inverted or flat. It is always good to allow your piercer to decide whether it can be pierced and if so, what are the effects associated with it. Therefore, it is mandatory to make prior appointment with your piercer for a consultation in case of nipple piercing with abnormality.

Rejection may occur during nipple piercing if done with an inexperienced piercer. Nipples are fleshy enough to pierce securely behind plenty of skin to prevent rejection. But sometimes the jewelry gauge is too thin or the piercing is not deep enough, you may run the risk of jewelry rejection. Some time allergy to the metal also can cause a lot of problem and result in rejection during nipple piercing. So, make sure the piercer knows what he or she is doing and see that they are extra careful about your aftercare.

Once through with the piercing, the healing process may take some time. This is the most critical time of nipple piercing. It depends a lot on the size and weight of your chest. Those with smaller chest will have lesser problems than those with heavier chest.

When there is a sore in your nipple during the healing process an ice pack would do wonders to reduce the soreness. Sea salt soak is also a good remedy to provide comfort to sore nipple piercing. Soak your pierced nipple for about 5 minutes and then rinse well.

The lower the aggravation you undergo during the process of nipple piercing the quicker will be the healing process. It should take only about 6 to 8 weeks. If it has been months and it is not getting healed you may be having an allergy or sensitivity to the jewelry you are wearing. It is best to see your piercer and let them look at it so they can suggest helpful and effective healing remedies.
