Gallstones are formed when the bile gets hardened. The bile which is synthesized by the liver is stored in the gallbladder. Bile consists of bilirubin, fats, salt, water and cholesterol. One has to follow strict low-fat diet in case one is suffering from gallstones. The gallbladder is unable to produce bile and as result one has to go in for such diet.

- To start with one must lose weight and maintain the normal body weight.
- Avoid carbonated drinks.
- Have lots of vegetables and fruits.
- One can have cereals, pulses, pasta, sprouts, rice, potatoes, sweet potatoes. okra, beets.
- One must avoid frying or deep frying and have boiled, steamed, grilled stuff.
- Avoid organ meant, red meat, egg yolk, avocado, animal fat, processed and denatured foods, pickles, oily, fried or even greasy foods, alcohol, refined carbohydrates, coffee, sugar and alcohol.
- Garlic and onion is meant for cleansing the liver.
- One can club soda to dissolve gallstones.
- Apple juice is also very good.
- One can drink olive oil. It is advisable to cook food in olive oil.
- Drink plenty of water.
- Pears are also very beneficial.
- Fiber is good to prevent as well as treat gallstones.
- Vegetables such as broccoli, kidney beans, dried peas, lima beans, corn etc.
- As far as fruits are concerned one can apricots, prunes, dates, raisins, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries as well as oranges.

- Pork
- Eggs.
- Onions.
- Fatty and fried foods.
- Alcohol
- Heavy protein.
- Salty foods.
- Processed foods.
- Cow’s milk.
- Excessive sugar.
One must regulate one’s diet in case one is suffering from gallstone problem.
