People go on such a diet to ensure that they eat less and have less calories. Actually, it is often understood that not eating at all can cause weight gain. In other words instead of actually losing weight one is actually gaining more weight.

No doubt a person would like to look slim and trim. A woman would like to maintain an attractive figure. She would therefore like to cut down on calories. Often she goes on starvation diet, hoping that she would lose weight fast.

Sudden changes in food habits can cause much damage to the functioning of the body system. It is very important that one must consult a dietitian before going on diet.

  • One can suffer from improper sleep.

  • Starvation diets can cause much reduction in weight, but as one starts regular eating then one tends to put on weight very quickly.
  • It can develop into an eating disorder. One may tend to binge.
  • Blood pressure levels also fluctuate
  • One feels giddy.
  • Nutrition levels can come down.
  • One can become irritable also.

Starvation diet may help one lose weight, but it is also not devoid of any side-effects.
