Home Remedies for Defective Vision
The inability to see objects clearly is known as defective vision. One is unable to see objects at different distances. Some find it difficult to see objects at a distance, whereas others find if difficult to see near ones. Much strain to eyes is caused while seeing. Qualified medical practitioners have to treat such defects in vision.
Symptoms of Defective Vision
- Blurred vision.
- Mild headache.
- Heaviness and itching of the eyes.
Causes of Defective Vision
- Mental strain.
- Improve supply nerve and blood supply.
- Reading in poor light conditions.
- Watching too many films too much T.V.
- Excessive reading.
- Reading in moving vehicles.
Home Remedies for Defective Vision, Treatment for Defective Vision
- Vitamin A- Vitamin A can be found in spinach, milk cream, turnip tops, butter, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, soya beans, cabbage, fresh milk, dates and oranges. One can also take it as a supplement.
- Liquorice-This is useful in the treatment of myopia. Take about ½ spoonful of this root powder and mix it with equal amount of honey, and half amount of clarified butter. Take it on an empty stomach twice in a day with 1 cup of milk.
- Triphala- This Ayurvedic preparation is useful in treating myopia. It contains 3 myrobalans – chebulic myrobalan(harad), embelica myrobalan (Indian gooseberry) and belleric myrobalan( bahera). Make a decoction by mixing about 30 gm of Triphala in water (1/2 litre) which can be taken by mouth. One can also wash the eyes with it twice in a day.
- Chicory- It contains food items which are required by the optic system. It contains a lot of Vitamin A, which is good for the eyes. By adding the juice of carrot, parsley and celery one makes it a very nourishing drink for muscular system and optic nerves. It helps treat eye defects. By taking about ½ litre to 1 litre of this daily has helped vision problems to the extent that one regained normal vision.
- Take plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables such as oranges, peaches, grapes, apples, lettuce, spinach, cabbage and turnip tops etc.
- Avoid white sugar, white bread, cakes, jams, tea, coffee, meat fish and eggs.
- Washing the eyes twice or thrice regularly will keep the eyes clean and to some extent improve the defective vision.

Defective vision makes if difficult to see properly. One has to wear eyeglasses prescribed by the doctor. One can also try home remedies to improve the condition.
