Couple Married with kids are Happier
Married couples who have children are happier than single, separated and those who co-habit as children provide them much pleasure, according to a new study. This contradicts earlier research which shows that having more children could be much strain for the woman as well as the couple in general, as they have to bring them up.
Earlier the view held was that the fewer children one had, the better it was. Rearing children was a difficult task as it involved much effort both financially as well as emotionally.
The study findings were published in the Oct.14 online edition of the Journal of Happiness Studies. Of course, this does not imply that unmarried couples should think of rearing children as it would not lead to happiness among such couples as they are not hitched.
The study further states that married women are happier if they have children as compared to those who are not and are prone to negative reactions.
Dr. Luis Angeles, University of Glasgow, Scotland says, “One is tempted to advance that children make better people off under “right conditions”—a time in life when people feel that they are ready, or at least willing, to enter parenthood.” He further adds,”This time can come at very different moments for different individuals, but a likely signal of its approach may be well the act of marriage.”
Parents love their children and spend a lot of time with them. They get much happiness in taking part in activities that interest them. Women also get much pleasure in having a baby. The first child in the family is welcomed with a lot of fanfare. Perhaps, it is much of a strain for the woman to bring up a child and even to have child. Yet, she derives pleasure in delivering a child. She feels that the child is part of her. Any separation could cause much trauma.
