What is sunflower seed?
These are called sunflower seeds as they resemble the sun. They tend to twist on the stem and follow the direction of the sun. They can be eaten raw or in roasted form. The seeds are green and dark in color. Their taste is a bit nutty and is tender in texture.
Sunflower seeds can be sprinkled over salads and deserts. They are used in the preparation of snacks. These seeds taste good.
Sunflower seeds are classified on the basis of their husks. In case, the husk is solid black, then they are called black oil sunflower seeds. These seeds are also pressed in order to prepare sunflower oil. In case, the husks are stripped then the seeds are called striped sunflower seeds. Some sunflower seeds are whitish in color.
