- Diatomaceous earth can be used to get rid of carpenter ants by mixing it with boric acid and sprinkling the nest with it.
- Make holes on the wall. Let them be about 1/8inch in size and fill them with boric acid. Drill holes on the sides of the nest and fill it with boric acid.
- Mix garlic powder with white vinegar and spray it around the house. It is a powerful repellant. Powdered borax and castor sugar can be made use of as bait to trap the carpenter ants.
- In extreme cases, carpenter ants can be found in the foundation of the house. The best thing to do is to replace the foundation.
- One can place white gravel around the house as this would repel the carpenter ants. As it is dry it can be useful to check the carpenter ants.
- Honey can be mixed with boric acid as a bait. Honey will attract the carpenter ants and boric acid will kill them.

- Peppermint soap can also be used to get rid of carpenter ants.

- One can mix jojoba oil with lemon juice to be used to get rid of carpenter ants.
- Placing a cinnamon stick at the entry points, as these carpenter ants do not cross over them due to strong smell of the spice.
