Nicotine in tobacco is bad for health. Smokers get addicted to nicotine and cannot do without a fag or two. Some become chain smokers and light a cigarette to release mental stress. Nicotine is the most addictive drug in the US.

Addicts to nicotine are at risk of developing several serious diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, lung cancer and respiratory problems etc. Pregnant women who smoke are also at a risk of developing complications and premature delivery.

Addicts cannot stay away from smoking. Even if they have been advised not to do so by medical practitioners, they continue to do so.

  • One tends to give up social and recreational activities in order to fag. One might avoid a smoke-free restaurant or not socialize with friends and family members if one cannot smoke.
  • Physical symptoms include high blood pressure, ageing skin, weight loss, bad breath and respiratory problems, gum disease, and weight loss.
  • Cravings for tobacco.
  • Headaches.
  • Agitated state of mind.
  • Disturbed.
  • Digestion problems.
  • Smoking in the early morning hours.
  • Frequent inhalation.
  • Smoking more than 5 cigarettes per day.
  • Excuse to smoke.
  • Psychological dependency on smoking. Even while taking a decision, one lights up a cigarette.

Smokers who are addicted to smoking find it difficult to give up the habit. They puff away continuously, even though it is hazardous to health.
