What is Flirting?
Flirting is a type of human interaction. It generally involves the opposite sex. Men and women like to flirt with each other. It is love making in a subtle way, and a person who flirts is actually expressing his or her desire for the other person.
Flirting can be in verbal form as well in body language form and involves brief contact on a physical level. Flirting need not be both ways. It is possible for one person to flirt with the other person. A man or woman tries to convey her affections and love for the other person.
Flirting is universal and is practiced all over the world. It may be in different forms, but wherever men and women interact there is bound to be flirtations. In some tradition bound societies this may not be permissible, with growing permissiveness and liberal values, men and women now flirt openly. They often say it is healthy to flirt or rather normal to flirt. Men and women are attracted to each other. They naturally would like to associate and to break the ice between them they begin to flirt with each other.
Flirting usually entails physical attraction for the other person. A woman, for example, may like a man flirting with her as it indicates his attraction for her. She may feel flattered. A person flirts with another person for various reasons:
What are reasons for flirting?
- To show one’s interest for the opposite sex. It is kind of a courtship in order to get to know the other person.
- It is the initial process for dating someone or hoping to date a person.
- To indicate one’s sexual attraction for the other person.
- Flirtations begin with the hope of long term courtships.
- It can also be a prelude to having casual sex with no strings attached to the time spent together.
- Flirtations are meant to have fun.
- One flirts with another person only if he or she likes the other person either for emotional or physical reasons.
A flirt is often taken to be someone who tries to woo over the opposite sex. Flirting could be done in any place. It could be in a social gathering, on a street or in an office. Often even strangers try to flirt with others, which is generally not appreciated. Street romeos as they are called try to flirt with girls who are walking on the streets. In some countries laws have been enforced to prevent such occurrences.
