Effects of an Unhealthy Diet
A diet consisting of fruits and vegetables less than 400 grams, intake of salt more than 5 grams and fat more than 100 grams every day is known as an unhealthy diet. According to an estimation of the World Health Organization, 2.7 million deaths are caused due to the consumption of an unhealthy diet every year. It is responsible for 31 percent of heart ailments, 19 percent cancer-related deaths and 11 percent strokes in people. It is the topmost cause of preventable deaths in the world. Some of the chronic diseases and conditions whose risk-factors increase owing to the eating of this diet are diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, heart ailments and the dreadful cancer.

10 Alarming Effects of an Unhealthy Diet

Obesity

It is the most common undesirable effect of eating an unhealthy diet. Availability of junk foods to all ages is increasing the dependency on such poor nutritional food source and in turn is contributing to the excess presence of fat in the body. This medical condition increases the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, heart disease, asthma, osteoarthritis and cancer.

Diabetes

Intake of processed foods, refined sugar, saturated fats and calories and low Vitamin B6 diet increase the presence of xanthurenic acid. It is believed that this acid destroys the beta cells in the pancreas which produce the insulin hormone. Blood sugar levels in our body are kept at normalcy by the insulin hormone. The disease is responsible for causing heart, kidney and eye-related ailments.

High Blood Pressure

Less intake of foods rich in potassium and excess consumption of salt can disturb the balance between these two minerals in our body. This leads to hypertension. Other causes are alcohol intake coupled with fat-rich snacks. It is the major risk factor for chronic kidney disease, heart attack and stroke.

Heart Ailments

Pizza, burger, fettuccine alfredo, submarine sandwiches, soda, pancake and cheese-laden nachos and gargantuan burritos are some of the most famous food stuff for people of all ages. Unfortunately, they are also some of the worst types of cholesterol foods with a high risk of heart ailments on their daily consumption. It ranks high among the causes responsible for 63 % deaths from chronic ailments all over the world.

Stroke

Doughnuts, crackers, chips, muffins, salad dressings, cake mixes, microwave popcorn, stuffing mixes, French fries, frozen tater tots and, whipped topping, fried chicken and fried fast foods are responsible for this ailment. It is the second cause of death in the world associated with other complications like diabetes, hypertension and irregular heartbeat.

Constipation

Consumption of processed foods, high fat foods and less intake of water cause this condition. Four million people in the United States are affected with this most common digestive complaint of the country.

Gastric Complications

Research studies have proved that excess intake of salt in the diet is the root cause of the origin of gastric diseases, along with skipping of meals, smoking and alcohol consumption. Spicy foods with excess chilly and mustard cause inflammation of the stomach. Burgers, pastries and white bread are hard for the stomach to digest and lead to irritation. Fried food items also increase the inflammation of the stomach lining leads to gastric complaints.

Kidney Ailments

Salt, frozen meats, canned soups, corned beef, sausage,pepperoni, pizza, Chinese food, cheese, fast foods, potato chips, pickles and soy sauce are some of the food items high in sodium which increase the risk of kidney ailments. High blood pressure and diabetes are some of the complications closely related to it.

Deterioration in Skin Health

Foods which increase the glucose levels instantly in the body, like baked beans, pasta, rice and raisins induce acne. Alcohol dehydrates the body and causes wrinkles and other age-related signs early in life.

Cancer

Processed meat, potato chips, soda, canned tomatoes and microwave popcorn are some of the top most cancer causing food items to avoid. Foods, lack of exercise and excess body weight cause 30-35 percent of cancer related deaths all over the world.
