Dark underarms refer to the situation, when skin under the arms darken due to a number of reasons like improper cleaning, sweating, dead skin cells and friction due to different types of clothes. Apart from these, the usage of shaving products and deodorants containing alcohol may also lead to this unacceptable situation. This situation leads to embarrassment while wearing sleeveless clothes in parties and social gatherings.

In order to treat this problem, there are a number of home remedies being advised by experts. You may easily get rid of dark underarms by employing these remedies regularly:

    Home Remedies for Dark Underarms

    Insulin Resistance

If your underarms are darker then normal, you might want to see a doctor for insulin resistance, you could have a metabolic disorder. A lot of the times darkness under your arms or in the groin area is excess insulin. So get yourselves checked out. You just might need more than these remedies. Insulin resistance is a problem that goes undetected in most cases and can lead to diagnosis of latent autoimmune diabetes in adults.

    Deodorant

Don’t use deodorant with aluminum, that may be the culprit. Maybe try a more natural deodorant. That may even include using lemon juice, but you may have to reapply this. Perhaps if you shower every day or more than once a day, this may help. Get a shower glove and scrub underarm. Don’t scrub too aggressively, as this may bruise your underarm and cause it to darken. Just scrub enough to remove any muck on there.

    Sandal

Sandal powder, along with rose water, has always been a recommended product to take care of human skin. You must use a mixture of these two products and clean your skin underarms after an hour.

    Cucumber

It is recommended to use solutions made out of juice extract from cucumber mixed with turmeric powder. You may also add lime juice to enhance the capability of the mixture to fight against skin darkening. Apply this mixture for half an hour and then, wash it away to get glowing skin underarms. You might not see results immediately but if you use it for a week, results would start to show.

    Home Remedies for Dark Underarms

    Lemon

    :
Lemon has the quality to remove dead cells of the skin and deliver a fresh look to it. Just take a lemon and cut it into half. Rub this cut piece on your armpits. It is believed that lemon is a skin lightener. It is also a natural deodorant and helps in eliminating bad sweat smell. Repeat this process 3–4 times a week and you will notice a change in your skin tone.

Prepare a mixture by adding honey, lemon juice, and sugar and heat them together till the sugar dissolves. Allow it to cool and then apply it on your underarms. Apply this mixture 3-4 times in a week to see the difference.

    Home Scrubs

    :
You may prepare home scrub using dried orange peel powder and yogurt and apply it over the infected area. This is one of the best home remedies for dark underarms.

    Potato Juice

Potato juice is considered as an appropriate bleaching product for retaining the fairness of skin.

    Baking Soda

You may gently massage the affected area with baking soda after taking a shower every day to reduce the occurrence of dark skin underarms.

    Milk treatment

Milk is again a useful ingredient for treating dark skin occurrence at armpits. You must mix milk with an equal quantity of curd and gram flour. You may also prefer to add a pinch of turmeric powder in the mixture. Apply this over the area and keep for at least 20 minutes, before rinsing with cold water.

    Alum Powder

In order to avoid the occurrence of dark underarms caused by deodorants, you may replace these products with alum powder.

    Coconut Oil

You may prefer to wash the infected area with coconut oil, which is proficient in keeping the skin free from dead layers.

    Multivitamins

The darkening on your armpits can be due to a lack of vitamins in your body. So it is advisable that you take some multivitamins which can fulfill the deficiency.

Apart from all these remedies, you must make it a point to wash and clean your skin underarms on a regular basis. Also, make sure that you select cotton clothes to wear in summers. This will help you to prevent excessive sweating and thus, the darkening of the skin is limited. Razors and shaving creams must be replaced by waxing methods to keep the skin free from infections.

How to reduce excessive underarms perspiration?
Sweating is one of the defensive mechanism of the body. The skin eliminates waste and toxins through sweat and also manages body temperature with that of atmosphere. The simplest way to get rid of odor due to excessive perspiration is through the use of soap and water. One can also use a deodorant to get rid of the odor. There is a lot of antiperspirant available in the market by use of which one could easily reduce perspiration.

      Hello everyone,

      I have a similar remedy,

      – a small bowl to mix
      – baking soda
      – hydrogen peroxide
      – 1 whole lemon use (lemon juice)

Mix all together doesn’t matter which way. Well the baking soda will rise up so be careful. It cannot be too water-y or too too thick. It has to be kind of sandy. Rub it under your arms covering the dark aream and let it sit for 15 to 30 min, wash it off and do this “EVERYDAY.” Trust me it will work I’ve had dark underarms also and this has worked for me and other people too. Please don’t give up keep on doing it because I know how embaressing it is when you have a strapless shirt/dress or simply u can’t wear anything showing your underams. Little by little you will see results. Gluck Hope this helps =]

I think sandalwood powder mixed with rose water could work. Mix these 2 and apply the paste over the affected area. This helped me in removing dark spots from my neck. I think this could also work for the underarms. I am not sure but I feel it could work.

I had dark underarms and it was very annoying. I have been using potato to remove dark underarm. I just started doing it since last few days. I think but not sure that it is working. I am making a paste of raw potato and applying it on underarms. I keep it for 15 minutes and then wash it. Potato is supposed to have bleaching properties so I think it might cure my problem. I think cucumber paste could also work. Let us see if the potato is going to cure my dark under arms.

I had dark underarms and my husband does not liked that. I tried all the remedies and creams. The simplest and effective natural home remedy for dark underarm I got was the use of lemon and coconut oil. First I applied lemon on the affected area 1 hour before going to bath in the morning. Then I used to apply coconut oil one hour before going for a bath in the evening. With these two treatments the dark portions started lightning up. The problem is not completely gone but it is not that visible. I can now wear sleeveless dresses without any problem.

I am certainly going to try the above mentioned home remedies for dark underarms. I have tried several remedies in the past but I think the real culprit of the dark underarms was the razor I was using to shave the area. I would not avoid razor and try the above remedies. lets see if it going and then I would be able to wear my sleeveless dresses. My husband would love this.

All these methods are rubbish. There are a number of effective treatments and strategies available to help or eliminate darkness in the armpits and groin area. If you do these things regularly, they will disappear fast.; 1. make sure you have enough iodine in your diet but not overdose. 2. Buy some neem powder, make a paste using water and apply and let dry and then shower. 2. Stop using all antiperspirants and deodrants and have a shower everyday instead. 4. Get yourself checked for hypothyroidism. 5. Buy Multani powder, make a paste, let dry, shower. 6. keep your armpits and groin area shaven. 7. drink four bottles of 500 ml spring water per day. 7. Eat red grapes, a handful, everyday. 8. Buy Dr Stuarts Skin Purify, Liver Detox and Detox herbal teas and drink every other day. 9. Buy some milk thistle supplements and take once a week. 10 drink neem leaves tea if you can handle bitter tastes. 11. Use honey and cut out white sugar completly if you can. 12. walk or exercise regualrly. 13. wear cotton clothes. 14. Include a variety of fresh fruit and veg in your diet. 15. Sleep early, rise early. 16. Avoid porcine meats completly, and eat, chicken, fish, or lamb instead. (trust me). find all this helpful? **@hotmail.com and gime a job and I will tell you many other health secrets!!! gathered painstakingly over 25 years. peace and love

Hi Angie! How are you? I’ve been very conscious with my underarms until I started using lemons, I do it every after bath in the morning and even when I shower before bed. It didn’t only lighten my underarm but it also takes the odor away. Yes, you can use it as a deodorant. Should try it yourself…
